The Riding Experience
Rather than focusing on one activity, this journey showcases everything that makes Mendoza one of Argentina's most remarkable destinations.
Three days are spent on horseback, from relaxed sunset rides upon arrival to authentic cattle work alongside local gauchos and a spectacular full-day ride into the foothills of the Andes. Between rides, you'll discover why Mendoza has become one of the world's premier wine regions through carefully selected tastings at boutique and internationally renowned wineries.
By basing the trip at Vivacs del Plata, there's no need to constantly unpack and move hotels. Instead, each day offers a completely different adventure before returning to the warmth and comfort of the estancia each evening.
One afternoon you'll be helping move cattle through the corrals. The next you'll be enjoying a multi-course lunch paired with exceptional wines overlooking the vineyards. Later in the week you'll trade horses for a sailboat, gliding across Potrerillos Reservoir with a charcuterie board and a glass of Malbec as the Andes glow in the evening light.
The riding uses traditional Argentine tack and calm, experienced horses selected to match each guest's confidence and ability. Before the first ride, guides introduce everyone to their horse, explain the equipment, and provide a relaxed orientation to ensure every rider feels comfortable, whether it's their first time in the saddle or their hundredth.
This itinerary is about balance. Adventure without rushing. Luxury without pretension. Horses without spending every waking hour riding. It's designed to leave you feeling like you've truly experienced Mendoza rather than simply passed through it.
The Plan
-
Arrive in Mendoza where you'll be met at the airport before making the scenic drive into the Uco Valley.
After settling into Vivacs del Plata and meeting your fellow travelers, ease into the week with a sunset horseback ride across the ranch as the Andes begin to glow in the evening light.
The day ends with a beautiful three-course dinner beside the fireplace—the perfect beginning to the adventure ahead.
-
Today is everything people imagine when they dream of Argentina.
After breakfast, head out on horseback with the ranch's gauchos for a full morning exploring the property, gathering cattle, and watching the skilled horsemen work the corrals. Depending on the day's activities, guests may even have the opportunity to lend a hand.
Return to the ranch for an authentic four-course Argentine asado before spending a relaxed afternoon riding again or simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings.
-
Swap riding boots for wine glasses today as you explore two outstanding wineries in the Uco Valley.
Begin with an intimate tasting at Escala Humana, a boutique winery known for expressive mountain wines, before continuing to Huentala Wines for another tasting followed by a leisurely gourmet lunch surrounded by vineyards.
Back at the ranch, enjoy another peaceful evening with an optional sunset ride or time to simply relax beneath the Andes.
-
Today's ride is one you'll remember long after returning home.
Spend the day exploring high-altitude trails that climb into the foothills of the Andes, crossing streams, winding through dramatic mountain scenery, and enjoying sweeping views across the Uco Valley below.
Return to Vivacs for another cozy evening around the fire with wonderful food, excellent wine, and plenty of stories from the day.
-
A slower morning begins with brunch before heading to nearby Potrerillos Reservoir.
Board a sailboat for one of the most unique experiences of the week—a leisurely afternoon sailing beneath the Andes while enjoying Mendoza wines paired with a beautifully prepared charcuterie board.
Back at the ranch there's time for one final horseback ride, a walk around the property, or simply relaxing before your farewell dinner.
-
After breakfast it's time to say goodbye to Vivacs del Plata.
Before heading to the airport, stop at the spectacular Bodega Salentein for one final tasting among one of Mendoza's most iconic wineries.
Raise one last glass to an unforgettable week before transferring to Mendoza Airport for your journey home or extend your stay in Argentina.
Stay
For five nights, Vivacs del Plata becomes your home in Mendoza.
Warm hospitality, beautifully designed rooms, mountain views, crackling fireplaces, and incredible food create a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere between each day's adventures. Rather than feeling like a hotel, the estancia feels like being welcomed into someone's countryside home.
Eat
From traditional Argentine asados and elegant winery lunches to homemade dinners beside the fire, every meal showcases Mendoza's remarkable local ingredients and celebrated wines.
Come hungry—you certainly won't leave that way.
