The Riding Experience

Rather than focusing on one activity, this journey showcases everything that makes Mendoza one of Argentina's most remarkable destinations.

Three days are spent on horseback, from relaxed sunset rides upon arrival to authentic cattle work alongside local gauchos and a spectacular full-day ride into the foothills of the Andes. Between rides, you'll discover why Mendoza has become one of the world's premier wine regions through carefully selected tastings at boutique and internationally renowned wineries.

By basing the trip at Vivacs del Plata, there's no need to constantly unpack and move hotels. Instead, each day offers a completely different adventure before returning to the warmth and comfort of the estancia each evening.

One afternoon you'll be helping move cattle through the corrals. The next you'll be enjoying a multi-course lunch paired with exceptional wines overlooking the vineyards. Later in the week you'll trade horses for a sailboat, gliding across Potrerillos Reservoir with a charcuterie board and a glass of Malbec as the Andes glow in the evening light.

The riding uses traditional Argentine tack and calm, experienced horses selected to match each guest's confidence and ability. Before the first ride, guides introduce everyone to their horse, explain the equipment, and provide a relaxed orientation to ensure every rider feels comfortable, whether it's their first time in the saddle or their hundredth.

This itinerary is about balance. Adventure without rushing. Luxury without pretension. Horses without spending every waking hour riding. It's designed to leave you feeling like you've truly experienced Mendoza rather than simply passed through it.

The Plan

Stay

For five nights, Vivacs del Plata becomes your home in Mendoza.

Warm hospitality, beautifully designed rooms, mountain views, crackling fireplaces, and incredible food create a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere between each day's adventures. Rather than feeling like a hotel, the estancia feels like being welcomed into someone's countryside home.

Eat

From traditional Argentine asados and elegant winery lunches to homemade dinners beside the fire, every meal showcases Mendoza's remarkable local ingredients and celebrated wines.

Come hungry—you certainly won't leave that way.

Out-of-the-saddle Activities

While horses are central to the experience, this itinerary offers so much more.

  • Boutique winery tastings

  • Gourmet vineyard lunches

  • Sailing on Potrerillos Reservoir

  • Working alongside Argentine gauchos
